As a resident you can invite relatives to visit on a family visit visa through Metrash. The salary you need depends on who you are inviting, and every visitor needs health insurance before the visa can be printed.
Before you start
- Visitor’s passport (valid for at least 6 months) and photo
- Proof of relationship — e.g. your birth certificate for parents, marriage certificate for a spouse
- Return flight tickets
- Your employment contract or company card (not needed for spouse and children)
Step by step
Check you qualify
To invite your spouse and children you generally need a salary of QAR 5,000. For parents, siblings and other relatives it is generally QAR 10,000, with a non-labour profession and family accommodation. Relatives beyond spouse and children usually require you to have family living with you in Qatar.
Apply on Metrash
Go to Visa → Family Visit Visa → Request Application. Upload the passport (front and back), photo and relationship documents, and fill in the visitor’s details, including their name in Arabic.
Pay and buy insurance
When approved, pay the QAR 200 fee. You will receive an SMS link to buy visitor health insurance (about QAR 50 per month) from an approved insurer. Enter the visa number so it links to the visa.
Print the visa
The visa can only be printed after insurance is bought. It must be used for entry within the period shown on the visa.
Extend if needed
Extend in Metrash before the first month ends (Visa → Visa Services → Extend Visa). A medical test may be required. Spouses and children can usually stay longer than other relatives.
